Baraboo "USA" chant

The following was a letter to the Baraboo News Republic mailbag today:

Baraboo administrators, students deserve scorn
Sounds to me like all sports and other activities at Baraboo High School need to be banned so they can completely educate their students to understand one has no love of country or respect. This school is so politically correct they are off the wall. Our younger generation will be the downfall of our country and the administration at Baraboo High School is definitely helping them along. The once proud USA is slowly decaying into a morass of degenerates thanks to our liberal educational system.

Carolyn Hinkle,
Lehighton, Pa.

Amen.

Lighten up, Francis. The kids were shouting "USA", not what you wrote in your post. BTW - How did you get the idea that I would think "every child should be allowed to shout 'You S_ _ _ _ A _ _' at sporting events" was a good idea? Putting words in someone else's mouth speaks volumes about your open-mindedness. You may want to work on that...

You haven't been able to carry on a civilized discussion about the issues yet, but you're improving. Keep trying, I have faith in God that you'll get the hang of it some day.

Where is the ACLU in all of this? I thought they were the long arm for the freedom of speech. It seems like liberals have convenient memory loss when it comes to freedom of speech. As in, one is free to speak as long as they agree with the liberal position. If they don't agree, they should shut up and be happy. It's that simple(-minded).

No doubt, the kids will come up with something new. They're smarter than some people give them credit for. Will the school administration outlaw that too, even though the kids truly aren't doing anything wrong simply because someone is offended by their interpretation or perception of what the kids say/do? Where does it end? Talk about a slippery slope!

I understand the chant has been going on for several years. It's taken that long for any response from the administration/board? This leads many to believe they are completely out of touch: not only with reality, but the students. Depending how you look at it, their inattentiveness may have been a blessing in disguise.

I had trouble trying to figure out what Hinkle was actually saying.

Steve, just do a blogger search on "Baraboo" and you'll find out. They'll also have something on NBC15 tonight at 10PM related to this issue.

I know what the issue is, but I couldn't figure out the lady's point about it was.

Anonymous: I would put more of your postings on the blog, but they aren't worthy. You have the right not to visit this site. Consider exercising it.

Based on your venomous, inaccurate, and misguided banter, you strike me as an insecure sore loser of at least one of the last three referenda for Baraboo schools. You express confidence you know my identity. Guess what? Your smugness got the best of you...You're wrong :)

Based on your previous feedback, you stike me as one who treats people like they're mushrooms...keep them in the dark, feed them sh_t, and everything will be fine. If they don't like it there are three alternatives: attack, attack, attack.

There are more of us like the person you attack in your posting attempts. You can refer to the ad hominem posting in case you'd like to see it's impact on your credibility with the moderator (not favorable). :(

Get over the losses and come up with solutions instead. Constructive feedback and undistorted, complete facts are always welcome.

Clean up your act and maybe some of your postings will make it. In the meantime, I feel obligated to tell you that few things are more satisfying than pressing the DELETE button. Have a nice day :)

Jay,
Sounds like you responded with an ad commentum attack!

I thought it was more of a measured response to some of the messages they have tried to post.
